Harvey Weinstein Arraigned On Rape And Criminal Sex Act Charges

A New Year, A New Decade, #MeToo, Harvey Weinstein Trial Begins – bringing a closure to what is surely a first chapter in a new story around sexual harassment, discrimination and gender equality in the workplace.

The United States of America was founded in part in the quest of equality and has continued as a human rights issue through centuries after.  The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a major step in our current workplace laws establishing people should not be discriminated against because of their race, color, sex, religion, or national origin.  In the next 50 years, the country experienced continuous evolution trying to mitigate discriminatory behavior. In the 5 years after that, we saw the explosion of the #MeToo Movement.

Today, we are seeing this story continue playing out and we should give credit to the New York Times reporting team who broke this story and changed the workplace landscape.  Listen to the podcast now to hear some of the first reporting on this that landed Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey the Pulitzer.
