EEOC Stats | Sex Based Employment Claims On The Rise
The Equal Employment opportunity commission reported an increase in sex-based claims of nearly 14% from 2017 to 2018. This is despite the fact that overall EEOC claims are down in the country. What does this mean for your company? Start by asking a few questions to yourself about your business.
Is your company more or less exposed to the following:
- Inappropriate conduct by your employees
- Risk of lawsuits
- Misperception and miscaterogation of claims
- Predatory claims
- Mishandling of real claims
- Losing good people for the wrong reasons
- Spending increased management time on EEO related issues

2019 statistics will be out soon. One thing we know for sure is that there has been a continual trend of claims from possible victims of sexual harassment. More and more State and municipal jurisdictions have passed or are discussing further laws in an effort to address these types of workplace issues. There is already federal law allowing for affirmative defenses for employers in certain situations IF employers do certain things to help prevent sexual harassment and discrimination. One of those requirements is to have training. Has your Company done this and done it effectively? Contact EEO Training for a solution today! www.eeo-training.com, 833 – EEO – TRAIN.
